Playing devil's advocate here a little. Is there a Catholic rule against people with not-so-strictly-sticking-to-Catholic beliefs being allowed to have a Catholic funeral? Maybe there is, I don't know. Or is the issue just that it seems hypocritical to give him a big mass when he supported things like abortion?

I'm frankly bored with Kennedy hoopla, probably because I wasn't alive when the real one got shot or anything. But I'm also thinking, all right fine, he was Catholic, give him a funeral, who cares. Not our place to decide. Maybe he got last rites. I see how it seems hypocritical too though.
