Religious Liberty For Dummies - Diocese of Scranton

Happy Tuesday! And Happy St. Ignatius of Loyola Day!

Here is a well done op-ed piece that clearly explains the issue of Religious Liberty.

Defining Religious Liberty Down

THE words “freedom of belief” do not appear in the First Amendment. Nor do the words “freedom of worship.” Instead, the Bill of Rights guarantees Americans something that its authors called “the free exercise” of religion.

It’s a significant choice of words, because it suggests a recognition that religious faith cannot be reduced to a purely private or individual affair. Most religious communities conceive of themselves as peoples or families, and the requirements of most faiths extend well beyond attendance at a sabbath service — encompassing charity and activism, education and missionary efforts, and other “exercises” that any guarantee of religious freedom must protect.

I cannot improve upon the way the first lady of the United States explained this issue, speaking recently to a conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. “Our faith journey isn’t just about showing up on Sunday,” Michelle Obama said. “It’s about what we do Monday through Saturday as well ... Jesus didn’t limit his ministry to the four walls of the church. He was out there fighting injustice and speaking truth to power every single day.”

But Mrs. Obama’s words notwithstanding, there seems to be a great deal of confusion about this point in the Western leadership class today.(cont.)

Pray for This Guy! - Diocese of Scranton

Haha! Good news for the church, bad news for progressives, gays, and Nancy Pelosi. Maybe.

The new Bisop of San Francisco has been named and it is not a name that the libs wanted to hear. Too bad His Holiness could not have seen to the flock of this Scranton Diocese in the same way.

Go check it out over at Whispers in the Loggia

Trads Under Fire! - Diocese of Scranton

Did you know that RealCatholicTV was getting heat from their home diocese to not use the word "catholic" in their name? So they are now ChurchMilitantTV.

Ha. Church Militant. I'm sure the progressives in the chancery like that far more.

Anyway, here's the latest vid from our friend Michael Voris and ChurchMilitantTV, concerning the war on tradition.

Check it out.

Coming Soon! Excercise your Soul! - Diocese of Scranton

I see it day and day out.

"Catholics" with no idea of what it means to be Catholic, and "Catholics" with no idea what the tenets of the Catholic Church actually are. Oh, they go to church on Saturday evening, their wives help make pierogies for the bazaar while they set up the grounds for the bingo.

But they do not have prayer groups anymore. No rosary societies. They are too busy with parish politics.

Fear not my Protestant friends, for there is news that should bring shouts of joy from deep in your souls!

Traddy is going to teach you the Catechism of the Catholic Church!

As I prepare to introduce my four year old to the ways of Holy Mother Church, I intend to share with you, the uninstructed in your faith, what you have been missing.

What you have forgotten in some cases.

What you can have back.

Concrete answers.

No ambiguity.

Traddy's pulling out the ruler and assigning homework!

If you want it, here it is.

Come and get it.

Watch this spot and tell your friends.

God love you!

This Is Not Our Bishop - Diocese of Scranton

Bishop Alexander Sample - Bishop of Marquette
As if you couldn't tell from the traditional vestments.

Because ya see, Bishop Joe wouldn't be caught dead looking like a real Bishop. People might mistake him for a man of character, a shepherd with a backbone.

A catholic, perhaps?

No, we lucky few that have been blessed with Bishop Joe know what we have here.

It's an election year BJ. When will you be speaking to Little Bobby Casey again about his support of abortion? When will you deny him the Blessed Sacrament?

I do not know, true believers. Maybe BJ doesn't think that the Blessed Sacrament is all that Blessed?

Then that would give one pause to wonder which sacraments are valid in this diocese?

By the way, this is His Excellence Most Rev. Alexander Sample, Bishop of Marquette, Michigan.

I'm thinking we need more Bishops like this guy up here.

And less Bishops like this guy, down there.

Bishop Joe Bambera - Bishop of the Greens

Courageous Priest - Diocese Of Scranton

I wonder what Bishop Joe would do if one of the priests of the Diocese of Scranton gave this homily?

Well, we actually DO know. Because it has already happened.

Courageous, orthodox priests in the Diocese of Scranton are uprooted and shipped off to places where they can't do any harm to the progressive agenda of the Chancery.

An elderly priest on the Acadian Peninsula has been barred from performing church services in the Bathurst diocese after he made remarks about homosexuals and women who have had an abortion.
Rev. Donat Gionet, 85, gave the sermon at the Roman Catholic church in Saint-Léolin while replacing the regular parish priest late last month.
He stands by the comments he made in Saint-Léolin, a village of about 730 people located about 50 kilometres east of Bathurst.
Reached in Caraquet on Wednesday, Gionet declined an interview but did provide a written statement.
In a letter written in French that he provided to the Telegraph-Journal, Gionet stated the sermon in question was about the destruction of the Church and the need to seek forgiveness for past sins.  cont.

The Greatest Threat To America - Diocese Of Scranton

We live in a very liberal place, those of us in the Diocese of Scranton. Democrats abound, liberalism flourishes. Especially in the Chancery.

But that's for another time.

Every now and then we hear something and we have to say "Yes!" Every now and then we hear something so succinctly put, so elegantly stated, that we have to share it. Watch this video here by Dennis Prager.

Are Our Catholic Schools Catholic? - Diocese of Scranton

What's new today in the Diocese of Scranton?

Well for starters, Tim over at non-faithfulcatholicschools has an article about our very own Bishop Joe Bambera and his gang of progressives at the Chancery. Watch here for more info on them as it becomes available. We are looking at rough times ahead in this diocese with this bunch, very rough times.

For those of you who don't know off whom I speak, his name is Bambera...he was appointed by the now gone-and-resigned-in disgrace "Cardinal Rigali".  I guess I don't have to say anymore, but those of you who know me realize that "just ain't so".

Bishop Martino, who was basically fired from his job for actually doing his job had gone after the four so-called "Catholic" colleges in his Diocese for not following the rules and dictates of the Roman Catholic Church.  These violations can be further investigated  here since nothing has changed...well...I guess that's not really true.

Bambera has allowed U of Scranton to go along untouched even after it has been disclosed that they (The Jesuits) support the HHS contraceptive mandate and actually already have it available in their medical insurance programs.  Oh, and they support Abortion as well.  Evidence of this comes from the mouth of the Medical School director at Creighton University as evidenced by the article from The Cardinal Newman Society that shows they lie at every turn.  So much for Bambera's credibility.  There's MORE!  cont.
