An atheist organization is blasting the U.S. Postal Service for its plan to honor Mother Teresa with a commemorative stamp, saying it violates postal regulations against honoring "individuals whose principal achievements are associated with religious undertakings."

Foundation is urging its supporters to boycott the stamp -- and also to engage in a letter-writing campaign to spread the word about what it calls the "darker side" of Mother Teresa.The stamp -- set to be released on Aug. 26, which would have been Mother Teresa's 100th birthday -- will recognize the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize winner for her humanitarian work, the Postal
Service announced last month."Noted for her compassion toward the poor and suffering, Mother Teresa, a diminutive Roman Catholic nun and honorary U.S. citizen, served the sick and destitute of India and the world for nearly 50 years," the Postal Service said in a press release. "Her humility and compassion, as well as her respect for the innate worth and dignity of humankind, inspired people of all ages and backgrounds to work on behalf of the world’s poorest populations."
But Freedom from Religion Foundation spokeswoman Annie Laurie Gaylor says issuing the stamp runs against Postal Service regulations.

Oh give me a BREAK! Frankly, atheists annoy me more than muslims even though their radical sects want to kill us all the time. At least they're doing something for the sake of God, lol.
They have this air that they think they are more enlightened, intellectual and intelligent about the rest of the world and always have to advocate how special and intelligent they are with nonsense like this.
It's a stamp. A stamp. Mother Theresa did humanitarian work. It's not promoting the Catholic religion, and they won't have to worry about their poor atheist little children suddenly turning into God-fearing people (heaven forbid).
Don't they think that maybe, just maybe, it's NOT a coincidence that humanitarians and good people (Mother Theresa, Rev. Martin Luther King) often are deeply religious people too? Gee maybe it's not mutually exclusive. Atheists would be too busy promoting their intelligence to everyone to do something humanitarian, while others who are guided by Christ or even someone like Ghandi would be motivated to sacrifice, serve others, etc.
I'm sorry. I know it's not Christ-like to get annoyed by things but atheists really do bug me.
I had a guy friend in high school once...he was cool and all but he actually kidded once that if he was in power he'd want to get rid of all religious people (he was an atheist) because they disgust him so much. I was like, that's nice. Guess I'd have to go, too.

To be honest, I'm not sure what giving aid to those in need has to do with religion. The postal service is (this is from the post, but I believe it is a USPS line) honoring her for "humility and compassion."
I guess the smugness of atheists get ruined when religious people care for humanity. They like to think they are the only ones who care; what with their trying to make sure there is "population control" and preventing "global warming". You know, because they care.
