Father Corapi Update

These allegations must be very serious with compelling evidence in order for the powers that be to remove Father Corapi's priestly faculties as well. Is that typical when one is accused in the Church today?

The following is from a press release concerning the cancellation of a fund raiser Father Corapi was due to speak at this Saturday.

“The Diocese of Corpus Christi has informed the Conference of its concerns with regard to Fr. John Corapi, SOLT. The superiors of the Society of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity (SOLT), headquartered in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, have notified the diocese that Fr. Corapi has been placed on administrative leave and has had all of his priestly faculties removed. The superiors of SOLT have further advised the diocese that this action was taken after SOLT received allegations of misconduct on Fr. Corapi’s part, but that these allegations do not appear to involve minors or claims of criminal activity.”

Dear Rockin,

I'm confused. In the accounts on the Web that I've been able to view concerning Father Corapi's situation it DOES NOT say that his priestly faculties were removed. All I can find is that he was placed on administrative leave. Could you please clarify the particular statement that you posted versus the other posts from his superior from SOLT and the Bishop of Helena.

Thank you!

Hi there!

That press release concerning Father Corapi's priestly faculties is from the Diocese of Rockford and can be seen here:

Since this investigation is happening internally, there has been precious little information released, and I doubt we will hear more anytime soon. I can't speak to the validity of the claim of the Rockford Diocese, I would think they know of which they speak in a press release. But who knows for sure? No one.

God bless!

Rockin,

Thank you for the Rockford Diocese statement. I also found a Press Release from EWTN, "Official EWTN Statement Regarding Fr. John Corapi" on their website and they, too, state that his priestly faculties have been removed. For this reason, they said that they removed his programs from EWTN.

I'm keeping everyone in my prayers and hope that this matter is resolved swiftly.
