This Is Getting Out Of Hand

Being told that the American flag is incendiary is something I would like to happen to me.

I'm a bit of a hothead, I have a bit of a temper. I am a patriot.

These things don't seem to go well together, especially in today's political climate.

I'm gonna have to go and get me one of them there American flag t-shirts.

Let's see who I can piss off with my patriotism.

Rockin,

I saw your comment at the Catholic Caveman and I'm also including this link about the screwballs at Live Oaks High School in Madison, CA.

I told hubby that I wanted to go to the Outlet Army Navy Store on Main Street in Wilkes-Barre and get some American Flag tees and a "Don't Tread on Me" flag.

Those morons at Live Oaks don't even know what Cinco de Mayo is about. It's the Battle of Puebla against the FRENCH, not the Americans. It is NOT a Federal holiday in Mexico. Maybe they need to return to Mexico and learn about their own history. Mexican Independence Day falls on September 16th.

My uncle fought at the Battle of the Bulge and my father-in-law at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in World War II for that flag. Never, ever will I remove an American flag from my property and that includes my body.

A righteously pissed off St. Mary's of Dorrance Parishioner

Omg that's utter horrible bullcrap. There is absolutely no reason why he should not be allowed to proudly sport the American flag. Cinco de Mayo is fine, that's great. But him being proud of OUR country has nothing to do with slapping Mexico in the face or...it's so ridiculous it just doesn't make sense.

It violates the flag code to wear the flag on a t-shirt! They probably only wore it to be provocative, not to express patriotism.

It doesn't violate the flag code to depict a flag on a shirt. The code you are referring to says: "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free."

A t shirt is apparel, and it still counts as a flag.

Because you apparently believe everything you read except this blog, I suggest you contact Paul Kanjorski's office and ask him to write a bill outlawing the wearing of flag t-shirts.
