So there's an article over at the Times Leader about Sacred Heart of Jesus from the Diocese of Scranton and the Holy Mother of Sorrows from the schismatic Polish National Catholic Church. The two parishes in Dupont are getting together for a joint 'community Thanksgiving celebration' this Saturday night at Holy Mother of Sorrows church.
Hold yer horses.
The Polish National Church is in schism.
So now, do we just view schismatics as protestants and view this as a victory for Vatican II's bastard child Ecumenism?
Does the Scranton Diocese know about this? Do they approve of it? I'm gonna find out.
Cuz I'll bet you if the local pastor in Pittston got together with the SSPX pastor and they decided to have a joint 'community Thanksgiving celebration', the pittston pastor would have been hauled into the chancery, read the riot act, and eventually moved to a parish far, far away for his actions in the name of 'Christian unity'.
And the SSPX isn't even in schism. They just don't like polyester albs.
The PNCC just wants to speak polish and own their church property.
Let me look into this a bit. Of course, your comments are most welcome.

Members of the PNCC are allowed to receive the Eucharist in any Roman Catholic Church, per an ecumenical agreement with Rome and the PNCC. I 100% support this arrangement, and believe we have a lot to learn from the PNCC and vice versa.
Unity is closer than ever! Little divides us and the PNCC!

Traddy, I know you won't agree with me on this. I read the article this a.m., and I think it's a good thing. It certainly doesn't mean that the Polish Nationals are going to try to convert the Roman Catholics. This goes to what I have been saying all along--we need more peace and understanding in this moral decay of a world we live in. To me, this is no different than a white and a black getting along in peace. This Thanksgiving celeb. does not mean anybody is going to hell. Can't we just start accepting people, rather than shunning them? After all, WWJD??

NEPA - Do you have the text of the 'ecumenical agreement' of which you speak? I have heard this, but no one seems to know which document allows this.
Even if that is the case, the PNCC broke away from Rome, and the PNCC is considered in schism. So now in this diocese Catholics can make nice and have joint 'services' with schismatics?
And WWJD? He would probably tell them to fall to their knees, and submit to head of His church on earth.

NEPA Catholic--regarding the Interfaith service; this is what I am talking about when I speak of more understanding, respect, and love for our fellow human beings. After all Jesus told us to "Love one another as I have loved you"; not "love Catholics as I have loved Catholics". It's about time we woke up and started to live the Ten Commandments; they say alot.

Allentown Diocese removes priest at Reading church
A priest at a Reading church who also was chaplain at Central Catholic High School has been removed from both positions by the Allentown Diocese after he acknowledged he had an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year old woman, the diocese said.
The removal of the Rev. Luis A. Bonilla Margarito, 40, was announced to his parish at Saturday’s Mass at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, officials said.
Margarito had been pastor at the church, 1018 N. Eighth St., since 2006 and chaplain at the high school since 2008.
His relationship with the woman was recent, officials said.
Diocese officials reported the matter to Berks County detectives.
Margarito, who was ordained in 2000, is no longer permitted to function as a priest and will be going to a treatment facility outside the diocese, officials said.
Prior to his appointed at St. Joseph’s, he had served at three other churches, including St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 326 S. Fifth St.
The diocese would not release any further details.
Central Catholic officials and county detectives were unavailable.
